Jerry Keith Hamilton, age 66, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Redbanks Skilled Nursing Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice in Henderson.

Jerry was born on January 30, 1957, in Owensboro, KY. Jerry attended South Spencer High School in Rockport. He later attended the Kentucky Department for Adult Education and Literacy and was awarded his High School Equivalency Diploma on February 7, 1996. He and his family were very proud of this accomplishment.

Later Jerry joined the Navy and was stationed in California during his service. After his discharge, Jerry joined the Indiana Laborers Union Local 561 and worked in the construction industry in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky from which he retired after 30 years. During this time, Jerry had the opportunity to visit and work on Ascension Island. Jerry always commented how the most interesting part of the job assignment was the flight to and from.

After retirement, Jerry began his painting business and had many clients throughout the region. He was an excellent painter, both inside and outside painting, of personal residences, businesses and churches. He enjoyed painting for his family, as well, and his sister was a repeat customer.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, swimming, camping and canoeing. He loved being outside and you could often find him fishing with his step-grandson, Ryan, or his best buddy, Dan. He took great pride in his vehicle whether it was a new, refurbished or just a van for hauling his painting supplies.

In Spring 2019, Jerry and his sister, Billie, enjoyed a life-time trip to Egypt where they sailed the Nile, visited the Pyramids and the Sphinx. New friendships were developed and lifetime memories were created.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Leona Jean Hamilton of Rockport; his beloved wife and best friend, Thelma Carter; and their doggie, Willie; and his brother-in-law and best ‘bro’, Michael Mabee of Henderson, KY.

Left to forever remember Jerry’s kindness, devotion and love are his sister, Billie Jean Mabee of Henderson, KY; his step-grandson, Ryan Vaughn; his step-daughter, Tammy; and his good friend, Danny. He will be sorely missed by his sister’s two doggies, Zak and Jake, who loved ‘Uncle Jerry’, and the hamburgers he brought them. Jerry will be greatly missed for his helpfulness, gentleness and respect, especially for his mother and sister.

The family wishes to thank the Redbanks staff for their tender and compassionate care of Jerry during his stay.

A private family gathering and inurnment will be hosted at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Redbanks Skilled Nursing Center, 851 Kimsey Lane, Henderson, KY, 42420.
