Illinois Lottery hosts ticket giveaways, talks community impact for Lottery Week

The announced a joint effort with lotteries across North America on Monday to kick off Lottery Week on , according to a release.

Lottery Week runs July 17-22 as a celebration of lotteries 鈥 such and 鈥 across the United States and Canada, looking to highlight the positive impact that lotteries make and recognize the important role lotteries play in their communities.

The Illinois Lottery鈥檚 theme will be 鈥淢ore Than A Game鈥 for the week-long celebration, the release said.

When people play the lottery, it's a win for our state and the almost two million public school students, their families and teachers in Illinois,鈥 said Illinois Lottery director Harold Mays. 鈥淥n average, the Illinois Lottery contributed approximately $4.4 million per school day for Illinois public schools in fiscal year 2022.鈥

The release said the Illinois Lottery has contributed more than $24 billion toward educational funding in Illinois since 1985. Nearly 25% of each dollar played on the lottery in Illinois supports K-12 education among other causes.

The Illinois Lottery is also partnering with to raise awareness about how the lottery is 鈥淢ore Than A Game,鈥 sharing facts, spreading multiple announcements and telling positive-impact stories on how the Illinois Lottery affects communities across the state, according to the release.
